This lecture explores the prophetic declaration that the message of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was intended for all of humanity, referencing the Quranic verse, “And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a messenger to all people.” It discusses the incomplete realization of divine governance on Earth and emphasizes that the ultimate triumph of God’s religion over all of humankind is yet to be fully achieved. Those close to God experience no fear or grief. Fear stems from what God wills, and even seemingly undesirable events contain hidden benefits. The Quran highlights that what we dislike may be good, and what we desire may be harmful, as God’s knowledge surpasses our own. We perceive only the outward appearance of actions and events, unaware of the divine intention and wisdom behind them. Our vision is limited; we cannot comprehend the ultimate purpose of God. Therefore, we are easily affected by superficial occurrences. True understanding lies in recognizing God’s overarching plan, which remains beyond our immediate perception.
Iqbal critically analyzed modern ideologies, identifying inherent dangers within them. He particularly opposed nationalism (wataniyat) as a political concept, viewing it as a new form of idolatry that overshadows faith. He contrasted the spiritual unity of Islam with the divisive nature of national identities. Iqbal saw secularism and nationalism as major threats—forms of shirk (polytheism) and kufr (disbelief)—and materialism as the defining characteristic of contemporary civilization. He argued that true strength lies in adhering to the principles of Tawhid (Oneness of God) and embracing Islam as a complete way of life.
During the Hijra, when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) were in the cave of Thawr, they feared discovery. Abu Bakr expressed concern that even a glance inside would reveal them. The Prophet reassured him, reminding him of God’s support. Consequently, Allah sent down tranquility upon them and reinforced them with unseen forces. This event resulted in the subjugation of the disbelievers and the ultimate triumph of Islam throughout the Arabian Peninsula. God’s word is supreme, and He is the Most Powerful, the Most Wise.
