The acceptance of supplication, or Dua, is contingent upon adherence to lawful means and a sincere connection with Allah. This discourse explores the reasons why many prayers remain unanswered, highlighting the critical importance of earning halal sustenance and avoiding association with disobedience. The Quran emphasizes that supplications made while engaging in forbidden acts are futile and will not be granted. A powerful example is given of a traveler who undertakes a lengthy journey, stands before the Kaaba, and raises his hands in Dua, yet his prayer is rejected because his livelihood and very being are derived from haram sources. True devotion demands a commitment to Allah’s commands and a rejection of sin, lest one’s efforts be in vain. The discourse also addresses the grave error of those who, despite possessing the means, fail to fulfill obligatory duties like Salah, and the consequences of deviating from the Sharia in matters of judgment and governance. Ultimately, the acceptance of Dua requires a complete surrender to Allah and a life lived in accordance with His guidance.
