The hardening of hearts is a spiritual condition described in the Quran, arising from a lack of reflection upon Allah's signs and the truth. Surah Al-Isra and Surah Al-Baqarah detail this process, noting that prolonged negligence leads to a spiritual inflexibility akin to stone. This state of spiritual insensitivity affects one’s ability to respond to divine reminders and embrace faith. However, the Quran offers hope, emphasizing that Allah has the power to revive even barren lands, symbolizing the potential for renewal within the human heart. The solution lies in addressing the underlying causes of this hardness, specifically the love of worldly possessions. Acts of charity (Sadaqah) and providing a goodly loan to Allah are presented as means to soften the heart and open it to divine guidance. Just as removing a brake allows a vehicle to move forward, relinquishing attachment to wealth allows spiritual progress. These acts not only benefit the recipients but also purify the giver's heart, enabling a deeper connection with faith.
