Allama Iqbal did not reject the West entirely; he embraced science and technology. His concern lay with the secular foundation of modern Western thought, contrasting it with the spiritual core of Islamic teachings. The Quran, according to Iqbal, dismantled superstitious beliefs—like attributing earthquakes to a giant animal—and replaced Aristotelian deductive logic with inductive reasoning, fostering observation and empirical study. This shift, he argued, provided the essential foundation for the flourishing of science and technology. Iqbal believed this core principle was purely Quranic and that the deviations within contemporary civilization—the separation of construction from faith—were averted by the Quran’s guidance.
