Hadrat Jaber ibn Abdullah states that a believer in God and the Day of Judgement should never be alone with a non-mahram woman. Any meeting should occur in the presence of a mahram (close male relative). This principle applies to both meetings and travel. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized that when a man and a non-mahram woman are alone, a third party – Shaytan – is present. Hadrat Ibn Abbas narrates a similar instruction: a man should not be alone with a woman unless a mahram accompanies her, and a woman should not travel without a mahram.
True prayer transcends ritual; it’s a direct communion with God achieved when the soul awakens. This lecture emphasizes that merely performing the actions of prayer—recitation and physical movements—is insufficient. Real connection occurs when one feels present before God, experiencing a sense of humility and closeness akin to placing one’s head in God’s lap. If the soul is dormant, oppressed, or dead, genuine prayer cannot occur, regardless of adherence to schedules or outward displays of devotion. Awakening the soul and establishing direct communication with God is the essence of achieving the spiritual elevation that prayer promises.

True faith stems from acting solely for the pleasure of God. This lecture explains that complete devotion requires loving and hating, giving and withholding, all motivated by a desire to please God alone. Genuine goodness isn’t merely outward action, but the purity of intention behind it. A believer’s actions—love, dislike, generosity, and restraint—become complete when driven by a sincere desire for God’s acceptance and satisfaction. This complete devotion defines the essence of faith.
This lecture clarifies the true meaning of ‘Uswa-e-Hasana’ (the excellent example) as revealed in the Quran, specifically during the Battle of the Trenches. It moves beyond superficial interpretations like simply growing one's beard or raising trousers above the ankles. The core of the prophetic example lies in actively confronting falsehood, even at the cost of life and possessions. True adherence to the Prophet's way is demonstrated through unwavering struggle against evil, not merely through ritualistic observance of religious practices while remaining complacent in the face of injustice. It challenges the notion of a comfortable faith and emphasizes the proactive struggle against falsehood as the essence of the prophetic example.
Performing Hajj and other religious obligations requires wealth earned through lawful means. Acquiring purely halal income is challenging in modern times due to pervasive indirect involvement with interest. Ambient interest exists in the air we breathe and the food we consume, which is considered a general impurity and doesn’t necessarily invalidate a transaction. Direct involvement, such as taking loans with interest to build homes or businesses, or depositing money to earn interest, is unequivocally forbidden. However, unintentional mistakes are forgivable, as God is Merciful and Pardoning. Focusing on acquiring halal income and avoiding strictly prohibited actions is paramount.
