God consistently tests those who come before us, and remembering these trials offers guidance and strength.

True faith stems from acting solely for the pleasure of God. Earthquakes are not based on superstition or coincidence, but are a natural phenomenon linked to the Earth’s structure. The Earth is described as balanced on two horns, similar to a bull. When one ‘horn’ weakens, the Earth shifts to the other, causing seismic activity. This concept predates modern science and is found in revealed texts. The Quran emphasizes abandoning speculation and basing beliefs on knowledge, as highlighted in Surah Al-Furqan and verses in Surah Bani Israel that discourage following what one lacks understanding of. The lecture stresses the importance of grounding faith in reason and observable reality.

The Quran is uniquely preserved compared to all other texts. The world’s scholars acknowledge this fact. Every letter and pronunciation within the various recorded recitations – Sab’a Qira’at and ‘Ashara Qira’at – is meticulously documented, detailing even the use of *zabar* or *zir* for each word. The official text was standardized by Hazrat Uthman (RA), a significant service to the Muslim community. This preservation extends to the precise documentation of variations in recitation, ensuring the integrity of the divine text.

This lecture explains that on the Day of Judgement, a manifestation of Allah will occur, but only those with faith will be granted this divine vision. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) observed Tarawih prayers individually for only three nights, leading an eight-rak’ah congregation. He performed these prayers after the Tahajjud prayers. The practice of offering twenty rak’ahs in congregation did not exist during the Prophet’s era or the caliphate of Abu Bakr. It began during the caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab, who standardized the practice after observing fragmented congregations in the mosque. He instituted a system of twenty rak’ahs to be performed immediately after Isha, led by a single imam.
