For offenses against others, it is necessary to either seek forgiveness from the wronged party, compensate them for their loss, or offer charity in their name if they have passed away. A single instance of abandoning the sin is crucial, allowing for repentance again only after a significant period and a genuine emotional upheaval. True repentance involves both internal remorse and external restitution.
