Human civilization faces two critical issues with profound philosophical implications: the categorization of sins into major and minor offenses, and the concept of virtue in society. Major sins, including shirk (polytheism) and disbelief, require sincere repentance (tawbah) for forgiveness. Minor offenses, however, are often expiated through righteous deeds. The Quran emphasizes leniency regarding smaller shortcomings and discourages excessive criticism. Regarding virtue, the Quran stresses gratitude for blessings and striving for improvement through good deeds, knowledge, and ethical conduct. This approach fosters mental well-being and avoids negative self-perception. The Quran also addresses the differing roles and attributes assigned to men and women by Allah, emphasizing equal moral standing while acknowledging diverse responsibilities. Seeking Allah’s favor is paramount for personal growth and development.
