Genuine Iman (faith) extends beyond mere verbal affirmation to encompass heartfelt conviction. This conviction is not simply a declaration but a deeply rooted belief in Allah, His Messenger, and the revealed scriptures, including those preceding. While acknowledging someone’s declaration of faith is permissible, true Iman requires a divine bestowal, as described in Surah Al-Hujurat, where Allah makes faith beloved to the hearts of believers. The Quran differentiates between those who merely claim faith and those whose hearts have truly embraced it, emphasizing that Islam is an outward submission, but Iman is an inward acceptance. Disbelief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day leads to severe deviation. The essence of faith is a deep connection, where belief permeates the heart and guides actions.
