The completion of Surah Ma'idah marks the end of the first group of Surahs comprising both Makki and Madni revelations. Surah Al-Fatiha, though brief in size, holds immense significance, considered equivalent in weight to the entire Quran. The subsequent group of Surahs—Al-Baqarah, Al-Imran, An-Nisa, and Al-Ma'idah—primarily address the People of the Book, refuting their claims, criticizing their errors, and recounting historical events. This leads to their displacement from their long-held position and the elevation of the Ummah of Muhammad (peace be upon him). The succeeding group—Al-An'am and Al-A'raf (Meccan), and Al-Anfal and At-Tawbah (Medinan)—shifts the focus to the Arab tribes. Surah Al-An'am introduces a new environment, differing from the prior discussions with the People of the Book, and marks the beginning of the Meccan Quranic discourse.
