218 - AL AN'AM (Ayat# 60-63)
The nature of death and consciousness is examined, differentiating between the temporary cessation of awareness during sleep and the permanent severance experienced at death. The concept of *tawaffi*—receiving back—is clarified, indicating that Allah takes the soul along with consciousness and the body. The human experience is characterized by a daily cycle of a form of 'death' in sleep, followed by revival, mirroring the ultimate experience of death and resurrection. The importance of remembering Allah upon awakening, as expressed in the morning *dua*, is highlighted as a rehearsal for the final return to Allah. Divine protection is provided through guardian angels, intervening to prevent premature death, and the complete and flawless taking of the soul at the appointed time. The accountability and swiftness of Allah's reckoning are also discussed.
