The Quran frequently mentions prophets, but does so in two distinct ways. One approach details the virtues and character of the prophets themselves, while the other focuses on the response of the people to whom they were sent, and the consequences that followed. The Quranic accounts of six prophets—Noah, Hud, Saleh, Shuaib, Lot, and Moses—are particularly notable because these figures were known to the Arab population of the time. These prophets were sent to tribes within the Arabian Peninsula and the surrounding regions, specifically a triangular area encompassing modern-day Iraq, Syria, and parts of Arabia. The narrative traces the lineage from Noah to Abraham, and then to subsequent prophets, including the ancestry of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through various descendants.
