Surah Al-Isra details significant periods within the history of the Israelites, spanning two thousand years, and draws parallels to the experiences awaiting the Muslim Ummah. This connection is highlighted through a unique pattern observed in the initial and concluding verses of Surah Al-Isra and Surah Al-Kahf, functioning as interlocking sections. The chapter also references the miraculous Night Journey (Miraj) of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca to the Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. This journey signifies Allah’s elevation of the Prophet as a steward of these pivotal centers of monotheism, where he led the assembly of prophets. The initial portion of the Miraj, the terrestrial journey, is the focus of this Surah, with the celestial ascent detailed elsewhere. Furthermore, the Surah emphasizes Allah’s attribute of being the All-Hearing and All-Seeing, reinforcing His knowledge and power.
