The Quran’s early Makki Surahs exhibit distinct patterns of thematic grouping and literary style. This segment explores the third group of Makki Surahs, beginning with Surah Yunus, and their internal organization. These Surahs are characterized by pairings with a unique, standalone Surah within each subgroup. For example, Surah Yunus and Surah Hud form a pair, while Surah Yusef stands alone due to its comprehensive narrative of a single prophet. Similarly, Surah Ra’d and Surah Ibrahim are paired, followed by the unique Surah Hijr, which displays characteristics of earlier Quranic forms. Surah An-Nahl is unique within its subgroup, while Surah Bani Israel and Surah Al-Kahf form a beautiful pairing. The current discussion focuses on Surah Maryam, Surah Taha, and Surah Al-Anbiya, noting the strong resemblance between Surah Maryam and Surah Al-Anbiya in their storytelling of prophets. Surah Taha uniquely focuses almost entirely on the narrative of Prophet Musa (a.s.). A connection exists between Surah Yusef and Surah Taha, as the time of Prophet Yusuf (a.s.) saw the Israelites settling in Egypt, and Prophet Musa (a.s.) led their liberation from Pharaoh’s enslavement. The discourse also details distinctions between the terms ‘Rasulun Nabi’ and ‘Siddeequn Nabi’ as applied to prophets Ibrahim and Idris (a.s.).
