The concept of associating partners with Allah, or *shirk*, manifests in various forms, including the worship of desires and worldly possessions. Surah Jasiyah highlights two critical expressions of this: *shirk* in obedience – submitting to a desire even when it contradicts divine commands – and the acceptance of human sovereignty. The Quran emphasizes that true judgment belongs solely to Allah, as stated in Surah Yūsuf and Surah al-Ḥakam. Furthermore, the pursuit of worldly pleasures, like wealth (*darham wa dinar*), can become a form of idolatry if it leads to disregarding lawful and unlawful means. This also extends to the internal struggle where the *nafs* (self) demands something forbidden. Genuine faith requires aligning one's will with Allah’s, exemplified through sincere worship and reliance on Him alone. Those who deny the afterlife, and believe only in this temporal existence, reject the divine justice inherent in the creation of the heavens and the earth. The Quran points to the sealing of hearts and the veiling of eyes as consequences of rejecting faith, rendering individuals incapable of recognizing the signs of Allah.
