617 - AL AHQAF (Ayat# 15-20)
Islamic teachings emphasize the immense importance of honoring and respecting parents, with a particular emphasis on the mother's role. The mother's sacrifices, beginning with pregnancy and continuing through years of nurturing and care, grant her a uniquely elevated status. Hadith narrations highlight that when asked about prioritizing good deeds, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) repeatedly indicated the mother as the most deserving of kindness. While the father holds legal rights regarding offspring, the mother's ethical and spiritual significance is paramount, as she is considered paradise under the feet of mothers. The Quran and Sunnah detail the hardships endured during pregnancy, childbirth, and raising children, all of which contribute to the mother's exceptional position. This status extends beyond material provision, which is primarily the father's responsibility, to encompass emotional support, selfless dedication, and spiritual guidance. The concept of reaching psychological maturity, around the age of forty, is also discussed, linking it to the time when prophets received revelation. Ultimately, fulfilling parental rights, particularly the mother's, is a pathway to earning Allah's pleasure and ensuring the well-being of future generations.
