The rejection of divine messengers is a recurring theme throughout history, stemming from a fundamental human tendency to deny the possibility of prophetic guidance. This stems from a refusal to accept that a messenger can be both human and divinely inspired. Critics often point to the messenger's inherent human qualities – their susceptibility to pain, sorrow, and even momentary lapses – as evidence against their claim of divine authority. However, this very humanity is integral to the message. The Quran emphasizes that messengers are indeed human beings, stating they are ‘nothing but a man’ who receives revelation. This revelation does not elevate them above humanity but rather serves as a means of conveying divine will. The denial of messengers often manifests as a rejection of the divine message itself, leading to disbelief and deviation. This pattern is highlighted in Surah Kahf, where the Quran recounts the response of people to the prophets sent before them. Acknowledging the human aspect of prophets is essential to understanding their role as relatable guides and messengers of Allah.
