Islamic teachings clarify that sinful intent begins with the gaze. While an involuntary glance is not punishable, a deliberate, repeated look at a non-mahram woman constitutes a sin. Islam views ‘zina’ (adultery) as encompassing not just the act itself, but also the preceding stages of desire initiated through the eyes, ears, and actions. Holding onto anger alone is not considered a sin; however, intentionally fueling that anger with forbidden gazes is. The initial, accidental glance is permissible, but subsequent, intentional viewing constitutes a culpable act.
