I'tikaf involves dedicating oneself to worship in a mosque, focusing solely on remembrance of God. While voluntary I'tikaf can be observed at any time, the Sunnah I'tikaf is specifically practiced during the last ten days of Ramadan. This entails entering the mosque before sunset on the 20th of Ramadan and remaining there until after the new moon sighting of Eid. During this time, focus should be on prayer, Quran recitation, supplication, and seeking forgiveness. While not strictly prohibited, worldly affairs should be minimized. Women may observe I'tikaf at home. The speaker reflects on their own decades-long practice of I'tikaf and the physical limitations now preventing it.
