Islam: Deen aur Mazhab - A Complete System
Dr. Israr Ahmad explains the distinction between Islam as a religion (mazhab) and Islam as a comprehensive way of life (deen). He argues that presenting Islam solely as a set of rituals—beliefs, worship, and social customs—is a limited and incomplete portrayal. True Islam encompasses a complete system including political, economic, and social structures. He contrasts this with a focus on individual piety—prayer, fasting, pilgrimage, and charity—while avoiding discussion of systemic issues. He highlights the acceptance of groups like the Tablighi Jamaat in Western countries because they focus on individual religious practices and avoid political involvement. He points to the large gatherings of the Tablighi Jamaat in Bangladesh as evidence of its widespread appeal, while noting its lack of political influence. He asserts that challenging the existing secular political and economic systems is labeled as fundamentalism or terrorism.
