⁣This lecture elucidates the Islamic worldview concerning the universe. The universe had a beginning and will cease to exist; it did not originate spontaneously or sustain itself. A singular, eternal being created and governs it. This being is unique, without partner or equal, possessing all perfections—omnipotence, omniscience, and eternal life—unlike human existence which is frail and dependent on sleep and sustenance. The being’s life is perfect, free from deficiency, sleep, or need.
