Dr. Israr Ahmad argues that Pakistan was founded on the basis of a shared Islamic identity, not merely political expediency. He emphasizes that the rallying cry of Islam was essential to uniting diverse Muslim sects – Shia, Sunni, Deobandi, and Barelvi – under the Muslim League platform. Without this unifying Islamic principle, such cohesion would have been impossible. He asserts that Pakistan’s very existence and future strength depend solely on its adherence to Islamic principles, and no other unifying factor could achieve the same result.
