Dr. Israr Ahmad clarifies that the term ‘shahadat’ (martyrdom) does not appear in the Quran in the context of dying in the path of God. He explains that the term is found in Hadith. The Quranic verse in Surah Al-Imran, referencing ‘witnesses’ (shuhada), is interpreted as those who bear witness to God’s message. Every prophet came as a witness, offering proof through their actions and words, both individually and collectively. On the Day of Judgement, they will testify regarding the delivery of the divine message to their people, holding them accountable for their choices. This clarifies that prophets delivered the message and are not responsible for the people’s subsequent actions.
