Gratitude, or *shukr*, is recognizing and appreciating blessings. It begins with a heartfelt awareness of kindness received, akin to a spring bubbling with water. This initial awareness, *shukr bil-qalb* (gratitude of the heart), must be followed by verbal expression, *shukr bil-lisan*, and ultimately, demonstrated through actions – *shukr bil-jawareh*. A person who doesn't recognize a blessing cannot truly be grateful. True gratitude involves benefitting from the blessing itself, allowing it to positively impact one's life, embodying thankfulness with the entire being.
