Societies and nations are collectively punished for their collective wrongdoings. This punishment manifests in this world, not individually. When evil pervades a society to the point of overwhelming goodness, even the righteous are silenced and unable to resist. Such societies ultimately face destruction. Collective punishments are indiscriminate; they affect both the guilty and the innocent, the righteous and the vulnerable. This highlights why entire regions suffer during times of tribulation, as the righteous are caught alongside the wicked.
