While some, like the Ahl-e-Hadith, maintain the original eight rak'ahs, the majority of Sunni schools (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali) follow Umar's practice, citing the principle of adhering to the traditions of the Prophet and the rightly guided Caliphs.
