The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was asked about the most excellent form of *jihad*. He responded that the greatest *jihad* is the struggle against one’s own base desires (*nafs*) in obedience to God. This involves suppressing harmful inclinations, humbling oneself before God, and striving for spiritual purification. This internal struggle is superior to fighting in the path of God.
The lecture discusses the possibility of a human attaining a status akin to angels through sincere worship, referencing the case of Azazil. It explains that pious individuals, known as Wali Allah, after death, have their souls integrated into the lower ranks of angels—not the highest—to serve as divine agents. This integration occurs by divine selection and is supported by the example of Shah Ali Allah, whose scholarly stature and spiritual position serve as evidence.
The speaker asserts that religious morality built upon a foundation lacking inherent ethical character is inherently weak and ineffective. He illustrates this with the example of a local businessman known as Haji Blackia, a wealthy sugar distributor known for his outward religious observance (leading prayers, having a long beard) but lacking genuine moral principles. The speaker argues that superficial religious practice without inner integrity is meaningless and ultimately futile. True religious morality must be rooted in solid ethical character.
This discourse details the path of *Sirat-e-Mustaqeem* (the straight path) as it transitions from this world into the intermediate realm (Barzakh) and ultimately becomes the bridge over Hell on the Day of Judgement. It explains how the righteous will traverse this path to enter Paradise, witnessing the salvation granted by God, while the wrongdoers will fall from it due to their lack of divine guidance. The lecture emphasizes the immense value of God’s mercy and forgiveness for those who adopted a path of piety in this world. Those devoted to *taqwa* (piety) will be rescued, while the unjust will remain fallen. This path will be a test of faith and a demonstration of God’s justice.
A true believer's purpose is to proclaim the greatness of their Lord. This isn’t merely reciting ‘Allahu Akbar,’ but understanding and embodying the declaration of God’s supremacy and uniqueness. The continuous remembrance of God, whether through glorification or worship, permeates all of creation – from the expanse of the universe to the smallest particle. This constant declaration of divine greatness, and the fulfillment of it through action, is what defines a righteous life. Failing to align words with deeds invites divine displeasure. The video explores this concept with reference to the verse highlighting the severity of hypocrisy.
Before the Day of Judgement, Islam will prevail globally because it fulfills the purpose of Muhammad, the Messenger of God. This triumph is essential to completing the divine mission entrusted to him – to establish the dominance of faith across all of humanity. Until Islam is globally dominant, the ultimate purpose remains unfulfilled. This is a call to action, emphasizing that the work of spreading the message of Tawhid (Oneness of God) is ongoing. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) foretold this prevalence, echoing the sentiment expressed by Iqbal that the source of strength lies within one’s homeland and faith.
