The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once asked his companions about bankruptcy. They defined it as a lack of wealth. The Prophet corrected them, stating the true bankrupt in his nation will be the one who comes with a large number of prayers, fasts, and pilgrimages, but also with the burdens of having wronged others – having insulted someone, unjustly taken their wealth, or falsely accused them. On the Day of Judgment, these wronged individuals will present their claims, depleting the bankrupt’s good deeds. If the deeds are insufficient, their sins will be transferred to them, leading to their destruction in Hell. This is the true meaning of bankruptcy – a spiritual and moral deficiency.
This lecture clarifies the distinction between *Nabuwat* (prophethood) and *Risalat* (messengership). It explains that all *Rusul* (messengers) are *Nabi* (prophets), but not all *Anbiya* (prophets) are *Rusul* (messengers). The analogy of a CSP officer’s career progression—qualifying through an exam, undergoing training, and then receiving specific assignments—illustrates the concept. Prophethood represents the foundational qualification, while messengership signifies a specific appointment to deliver a divine message. This appointment transforms the individual into a *Rasul*, tasked with conveying a warning or message to their people. The lecture emphasizes that this appointment defines the messenger’s role.
This lecture explores the unique responsibility of the final messenger and the final nation (Ummah). It emphasizes that while other nations historically lived for their own interests and glory, this nation’s purpose is to live for the world, striving for guidance and leaving a lasting legacy. This consistent practice strengthens the habit of performing good deeds solely for the pleasure of God, rather than seeking recognition or reward. By consistently prioritizing intention and concealing good deeds, one can solidify a habit of sincerity and avoid hypocrisy.
